1. Who we are

CollegeReality is a volunteer-run web app that helps middle and high school students discover and apply for scholarships and grants. This policy explains what information we collect and how we use it.

2. Information we collect

• Account information you provide when signing up: name, email, school, grade, and password.
• Application content you enter into scholarship applications and related forms.
• Feedback you submit through the in-app feedback widget.
• Basic technical data such as browser type and error logs needed to keep the site running.

3. Children under 13

The Service is designed for use with a parent or guardian. If a user is under 13, a parent or guardian must create and supervise the account. If we learn we have collected personal information from a child under 13 without parental consent, we will delete it. Contact us to request deletion.

4. How we use information

• To create and secure your account.
• To save your applications and progress.
• To match students with mentors and appropriate scholarships.
• To respond to feedback and improve the Service.

We do not sell your personal information, and we do not show third-party advertising.

5. Who can see your information

• You, and any parent or guardian linked to your account.
• The mentors assigned to help you (only what is needed to help).
• CollegeReality administrators, for support and safety.
• Service providers who host the site and database on our behalf, under contracts requiring them to protect your information.

When you submit an application to a third-party scholarship provider, that provider handles the submitted information under their own policies.

6. Security

Passwords are stored using industry-standard hashing. Access to student records is protected by row-level security so that users only see records they are authorized to see. No system is perfectly secure — please use a strong, unique password.

7. Retention and deletion

We keep your account information for as long as your account is active. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us through the feedback widget.

8. Your choices

You can review or update your account information at any time by signing in. You can also request a copy of the information we hold about you, or request deletion, by contacting us.

9. Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. If we make material changes, we will notify you through the app or by email.
